Niall of the Nine Hostages is an exciting new project about the fifth-century Irish King, who founded a dynasty during the fall of Rome and the rise of Christianity.  Niall is both a true-life character in Irish history but is also a figment of the imagination in Irish Gaelic legends, so that the facts are obscured by the mythical writings of the Celtic Bards, Poets, and Seers. As his name suggests, he was at times a fierce warrior, though the manner in which he was enthroned with the support of the Druid hierarchy meant he had to temper his warrior ways with a style of fighting that involved limiting the effects of the battlefield by taking hostages, who were used to reduce bloodshed and to leverage power deals for territorial negotiations. Often, the hostages were brought to court and  were treated well, though remaining captives. Indeed his first hostage was the Christian St Patrick, who Niall released after five years and was to allow him  to build the Churches and the Christian community within Ireland without any impediment. A strange alliance for the Druid King, who whilst not a Christian. Niall went on to take 8 more hostages while he took all the counties of Ireland by fighting his brothers and then went on the conquer England, Scotland, Wales and Brittany in France.

The proposal is to create a 12 part  drama TV series and a Pilot feature film about his fascinating life and journey.
